Class 11 Ch 7 Physics NCERT- System of Particles and Rotational Motion pdf | Read Online

In the earlier chapters we primarily considered the motion of a single particle. (A particle is represented as a point mass. It has practically no size.) We applied the results of our study even to the motion of bodies of finite size; assuming that motion of such bodies can be described in terms of the motion of a particle. In this chapter, we will learn beyond this inadequacy. Again Class 11 Ch 7 Physics is an important chapter from JEE Mains, JEE Advance, NEET & other competition point of view and base of further studies too.

Introduction part explains that how we will learn here about extended bodies. We shall discuss the motion of the centre of mass of a system of particles and usefulness of this concept in understanding the motion of extended bodies. Centre of mass of a two-particle system, momentum conservation and centre of mass motion. Further we will study Centre of mass where we shall first see what the centre of mass of asystem of particles is and then discuss its significance. Further we will study The motion of the centre of mass , where we will see study that motion of the centre of mass of a system of particles is independent of the internal forces. The centre of mass moves as if the whole mass of the system is concentrated at it and the external force is acting on it. In sub unit of Linear Momentum of System of Particles, we will study basics of subject matter, aspects and applicability. Vector Product of Two Vectors states that it is a binary operation on two vectors in three-dimensional spaces. we will also study magnitude, Direction, Commutative property etc further under this sub unit. After this we will study the relation and aspects of Angular Velocity and its Relation with Linear Velocity. The torque is defined as the rate of change of angular momentum which is the same as the cross product of the linear force and the distance from the axis. So, the torque is the rate of change of angular momentum, and we will study details of same in Torque and Angular Momentum. A rigid body is a system of many particles. It is not essential that each of the particles of a rigid body behaves in a similar manner like the other particle. Depending on the type of motion every particle behaves in a specific way. This is where the equilibrium of rigid bodies comes into play. How this equilibrium affects the whole system of particles is what we shall learn now in the unit of Equilibrium of a rigid body. Further we will also study some very important units of class 11 ch 7 physics like Moment of Inertia, Theorems of perpendicular and parallel axes etc. you will find these units becoming part of various competitive exams as well. Further one study many other important units in this chapter as well like Kinematics of rotational motion about a fixed axis, Dynamics of rotational motion about a fixed axis, Angular momentum in case of rotation about a fixed axis and Rolling motion.
