NCERT physics Class 11 chapter 10 is important introduces the Mechanical Properties of Solids. Introduction this chapter, we shall study some common physical properties of liquids and gases. Liquids and gases can flow and are therefore, called fluids. It is this property that distinguishes liquids and gases from solids in a basic way. Sub unit of Ch 10 Class 11 physics is about Pressure, which describes about the concept and scalar quantity and other aspects. Further, Pascal’s law is a principle in fluid mechanics given by Blaise Pascal that states that a pressure change at any point in a confined incompressible fluid is transmitted throughout the fluid such that the same change occurs everywhere. So far we have studied fluids at rest. The study of the fluids in motion is known as fluid dynamics. Streamline Flow describes concept about flow, motion and velocity. Further, we study about fluid dynamic, Bernoulli’s principle, which states that an increase in the speed of a fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in static pressure or a decrease in the fluid’s potential energy. Viscosity is the next which is a measure of a fluid’s resistance to flow. It describes the internal friction of a moving fluid. A fluid with large viscosity resists motion because its molecular makeup gives it a lot of internal friction. Further we will study about The Reynolds number, which is the ratio of inertial forces to viscous forces within a fluid that is subjected to relative internal movement due to different fluid velocities. Next is, Surface tension, which is the property of any liquid by virtue of which tries to minimize its free surface area. The surface tension of a liquid is measured as the force acting per length on an imaginary line drawn tangentially on the free surface of the liquid.
